PDO THREADS

What are PDO threads?

PDO threads are a type of suture commonly used in thread lift services.

PDO threads have been used in surgeries since the 1980s. They’re made from a colorless polyester that breaks down in your body after about 6 months.

The presence of these threads in the skin triggers immunity cells in your body called fibroblasts to produce new collagen. Collagen gives your skin its structure and elasticity. Loss of collagen is one of the main causes of aging and sagging skin.

Where can PDO threads be used?

A thread lift can treat most parts of the face that are experiencing slight aging. The areas around cheeks, jawline, neck, and eyes are the most common areas.

PDO thread lifts aren’t as drastic as the results of facelift surgeries and do not lift severely heavy skin. PDO threads can be used along with other services such as Botox and fillers.

What Is The Procedure?

  • Area is mapped to determine placement

  • Numbing procedure applied

  • Thread is inserted via canula.

  • Threads shaped and mounded unto place

  • Thread trimmed

Procedure takes 35 to 45 minutes, and you can return to work immediately as there is typically no downtime.

How long does a PDO thread lift last?

PDO thread lifts cause improvements in skin sagging after the treatment. However, the threads will begin to dissolve between 6 months to 1 year. And collagen typically remains in place for an additional 6 months.
